Stop procrastinating sleep Star this Commitment
Week 3 of 4

maria dal commits to:
Not going on my phone instead of getting ready for bed. Because this then leads to me either falling asleep on my couch or in my clothes from that night or I do end up getting ready for bed later, but then go to bed a lot later. Hence, both alternatives lead to me not sleeping well.

This week I did not have the great start, but on Monday night this changed. I decided to put a very strict program into place. After getting home around eight, I first hang some clothes to dry, that I had put to wash before. I then ate the salad I had prep-ed. I then started completing my Statistics asynch. I continued working on it until strictly twelve thirty. I then got up to get ready for bed. I showered, brushed my teeth, did my skincare. To prepare for the next day I packed a meal for school, I made my gym back, also set out the outfit I will wear the next day. I then set my alarm for eight am and then went to bed. I did wake up at eight but fell back asleep and actually managed to get up at 9:16. This did set me back because I had class at 10:00 and wanted to was my hair before. So while both rushing and following a strict time schedule, I managed to shower, brush my teeth, dry my hair, do my makeup ad pack my bags, in just thirty five minutes. I was, so happy and proud when I managed to leave my house at 9:51, which gave me the ten minutes I needed to get to class on time. In addition, I managed not to use my phone for the last hour before I went to bed and for thirty minutes after waking up. Concluding, I successfully managed to go to bed exactly at one am, without using my phone before bed and then slept for eight hours, as well as showering and managing to get to class on time.

This past weekend, even though I did not go to bed early I managed to sleep for 8hrs or more because I did not have class in the morning and was able to sleep in till the afternoon. Initially this benefited me because I was well rested for Sunday. In fact, I was so well rested that I managed to watch two movies and did not go to be until 3:00 in the morning that night. This resulted into me sleeping for 4-5, as I had to wake up around 9:00 on Monday, for class. Hence, one more unsuccessful attempt to stop procrastinating my sleep and have a proper rest.

I started of the week with an unfortunate not good start. I arrived back home from a weekend trip on Sunday night, at midnight. My goal was to quickly get ready and go to bed as soon as possible, but I failed. Even though I began getting ready, by unpacking my suitcase, I then proceeded to do unnecessary tasks that delayed the time I would go to bed. Finally, when I felt exhausted, even though I had not brushed my teeth or taken my makeup off, I laid on my bed, on top of the covers and went on my phone (literally the reason I'm doing this journal). I then fell asleep, as per usual, and woke up around 5:54am and then changed into my PJs, set my alarm, put my phone to charge, closed all the lights and went to bed, the proper way. I then woke up at 7:30, I took my some time to get out of bed but I managed to get ready for class and left my house at 8:23 for my 8:30 class. The same night I had a dinner with some friends. Because of this I got home at around midnight. I then again began getting ready for bed, but again I got tired and decided to take a break and go to bed. Obviously since I was tired I fell asleep, on top of my covers wearing my clothes from the previous night. The next morning I woke up from a surprisingly good sleep. I was very fortunate to have slept well. When I woke up I took a shower, took my make-up off from the previous night, brushed my teeth and then left for school and managed to get to class right on time.
